Tinker, Tailor, Soilder, Sailor ........

Rich Man, Poor man, Beggar man, Thief.

Yep, I can say I have pretty much met all of the above and many more !
I started to wonder if a persons employment does affect their behaviour, do they have a common thread that runs through them ? Should I be looking more for a profession than a person as such? Have I been chasing the wrong guy due to their work code or has it been just bad luck ? So I thought I would run back through a few. Okay I haven't meet a professional Tinker, or a tailor actually, but lets start with a few common ones......

Policeman- supposed to be morally upstanding, dependable, trustworthy, the up-stander for whats right and wrong in society. Erm, not from what I have experienced ! Id always heard never trust a policeman, they always have eyes everywhere and probably if not a wife, another girl elsewhere ! I have met at least three coppers. All nice guys on the surface- but none of them good at letting the past go, or another woman pass them by ! They believe themselves to be superior to anyone else. Not what I'm looking for thank you!

Firemen- have met/dated two, and I can honestly say in my opinion worse than Policemen! Both had their own warped sense of reality, or what was morally right from wrong. Its not actually the case they cant keep their hose pipe in their trousers. In these cases it was what went on in their heads that was the problem.Either morally wrong thoughts or lies and truth distortions.  I wont go in to details but let say I only want to see a fireman in an emergency in future !

Builders /plumbers/roofers- normally perceived as strapping big lads. The few I have dated haven't always been that type of build, and also against stereotype were not the type of guys to wolf whistle at anyone ! They were full of practical ideas for improvements- not to me to property/objects. But actually getting them to do the work was another matter! One was very money obsessed/ status lead and would happily work 7 days a week for some extra money. But obviously that was his money to be spent on him not for us to enjoy. After a few too many boys days/weekends/holidays and with me being told we couldn't go out as he had to save and replace the money he had spent on those trips I had enough! These guys are very laid back, everything can wait- always time for another cup of tea types. One trait I will give them as a bonus.

Drivers- bus/lorry/delivery. Sudden realisation as I wrote that sentence that these guys all seem to be shy, reserved and quiet in public. But with alcohol and on a one to one basis they become animals ! Maybe its the time they spend driving alone all day, but they seem to crave a womans body over her mind. Very physical human beings (I'm not complaining) but also hard to read and to actually find the man hidden below. I have known one for years and I still can't suss him out. I thought he was a womaniser, but the longer I have known him the more I think I was well off the scent. Unless he is the mastermind at lying !

Office workers/estate agents/sales reps. Although I have included Office workers I actually not sure if I can remember one ! Better cross them off my list

Estate Agents/Sales reps. Bizarrely enough they may love the sound of their own voice but they do tend to have a problem with listening to anyone else's. Their communication skills are pretty bad, and the intrusion of
a too quick text reply can send them into a melt down. They may be able to sell houses or paper etc but with matters of the heart they seemed to get flustered and tie themselves up in knots. Likeable guys as a rule, but tend to say what they think you want to hear and then turn it all around and accuse you of wanting more than them.

Ooo just remembered I did date an office worker- although he worked shifts but sat behind a desk  that was  what threw me off ! Now he was a very troubled man. Didn't know what he wanted. Maybe that's the shift worker pattern coming into its own. Firemen, police, warehouse men all shift workers who seem confused child like people who probably all should of had a more dominant mother in their lives !

At the root of it all though lays ones connecting factor. Me ! Maybe it is me after all ! Maybe they all lied when they uttered the words- "Its not you"

Oh god time for some more self analysis !

New pictures

I like to keep my photos on my dating page up to date. Mainly because then no one can accuse me of looking vastly different from my pictures if we eventually meet up. Its a well known fact though that other people don't change their photos, or use old ones from 2-3 Years prior. Okay looks aren't everything but it is false advertising!
Some profiles include a picture of a group of people. If this is the only photo its very difficult to work out who is who. In today's world of camera phones, web cams and digital cameras its not hard to take a snap shot of yourself- alone- and not next to your ex ( "oh that my sister") . Its not as if you have to wait for the local chemist or snappy snaps to process your old camera film and then scan, copy and paste is it!

So today I updated my profile photo. The others are only a few weeks or months old, but yet again Ive changed my hair colour so I loaded up a new photo. As always this leads to an influx of new messages. Maybe its just that men look at the pretty pictures, think " oo look a newbie" and just dont bother checking out screen names, details etc. Because every time I get repeat messages from guys who have messaged me before and I have never replied to, or the communication just stopped.
Today is no different. Remember back in April , the story of being stood up on a dog walk ? (standing in the car park alone) Well the same guy sends me a message!

hi there how are u have u had a good christmas xx

Ok , so his screen name has changed, but he still has the same photo, he still lives in the same village and he still does the same job. Does he think Im stupid or has he clearly forgotten who I am ?! So I prompt his memory:

Yes thanks. How was yours?

not bad thanks so wheres near ******(village do you live ?) im in *********(village) xx

Why? So you can make me drive to B****l and stand me up again??!!

you what xx

Dont you remember? I live in S****. You are a courier. We arranged to meet to walk the dog, you didn't pick me up and then told me to drive to ****** cos you were waiting for me there. But you weren't !

are u sure xx

positive. So much so I even wrote a blog about you.

Dont think it was me.x

Now either I have completely lost the plot or this guy really thinks he can just carry on winding me up! In the end I told him to cast his mind back to April & sent him the link to the blog I wrote. He claims his name is James. Whether he is James, Simon or Fred it doesn't matter to me. I would know that face anywhere! I honestly don't know why I bothered to even reply !

Standing in the Car Park alone

So I have to admit I have been stood up twice. Ok not counting the " I'm not feeling well/ somethings come up" texts I have received less than 12 hours before a designated first date. They don't count. The are annoying mind you! But you get to realise the something that's come up is usually something men have in their trousers after some other girl has shown some interest in them! Its the law of averages- you win some you loose some!
So twice I have actually been left waiting for someone who isn't going to show up. For this reason I normally like to meet people in the car park as opposed to inside the bar/pub as you don't look like such a Muppet waiting for someone who isn't going to show up. I think its harder for a female to walk in a place she doesn't know on her own anyway. Even in this modern world  a pub is still predominantly a mans domain.
Let me set the scene for my embarrassing moment:
I was on line one Sunday afternoon and the weather outside was nice. I had spoken to this guy - lets call him Simon (cos that is his name according to his profile!) a few times previously but he then had vanished. The conversations had never been specific, he didn't ask anything about me or my life at all. So suddenly he pops back on and asks me if Id like to walk my dog with him that afternoon. I was a bit weary as I hadn't heard from him for a few months, and when he then asked when were my kids home (I only have 1 so shows how he paid no attention) I was quite blunt and said " I have to say it sounds like you want to meet up and then just go back to someones" . He got offended by this slightly and said "No, I just think its best to talk face to face". So I agreed to go on the dog walk, and got myself sorted out whilst I waited for him to pick me up. Now normally I wouldn't ask anyone to come to mine before I had met them somewhere neutral, but to be honest I couldn't be bothered to drive anywhere and it was on his way anyway.
So an hour later I'm still sat at home waiting for him to turn up. ( No this isn't how I got stood up- it gets better!) I send a text asking if he has got lost, thinking at the same time he has stood me up. The reply came back- "No I'm waiting at Bradwell for you". "Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were picking me up.Never mind I will grab the dog and drive down. Are you in the Car park by the Chapel?" "Yep that's the one" " I will be 15 minutes".
So I got the dog, jumped in the car and drove down there. I pulled into the car park and could only see Couples in Cars or empty Cars. Okay maybe hes waiting by the Chapel. So I get out the car with the dog and send the text "Are you waiting somewhere?"
Silence- No reply
So now I start to think Ive been stood up. So I walk the dog and send a message that says
"Okay well done You sent me on a wild goose chase. Never mind at least the dog gets a walk"
and then for good measure another one 5 minutes later that just said
"COCK"
As I continue on the dog walk, my phone battery dies, and I try to not see the bad in every male of the population, or join the men haters of the world, when a sudden thought dawns on me
" Oh crap he knows where I live- what if he is currently robbing my house!"
I had to laugh- that would be just my luck!
When I returned home everything was still there (not that I have a lot worth taking ). But let this serve as a lesson to all (including myself, who I admit must have got a bit slack over the safety rules with this one!). Don't let any stranger know where you live- not everyone is as honest as yourself.
